Multiple works by Ina van Zyl will be on show at the exhibition Aquavit. From March 6. until May 29. Aquavit is on show in the Cacao Expo located at De Cacaofabriek in Helmond. With the work of 12 artists and more than 100 watercolours, the exhibition gives an overview of the vitality of contemporary watercolour.
Curators Ludo van Halen and Caren van Herwaarden bring an ode to a medium that they think is long due for a grand rehabilitation. As watercolour as a medium has a rich history; it caused furore in the nineteenth century among great artists such as William Turner.
For Aquavit they selected 12 renowned artists that all work with watercolour: Nour-Eddine Jarram, Paul Faassen, Maria Roosen, Aline, Joris Geurts, Nan Groot Antink, Caren van, Henri Jacobs, Arno Kramer, Q. S. Serafijn, Jolanda and Ina van Zyl.
With more than 100 works, Aquavit provides a broad overview of various themes and approaches within the medium, from political to philosophical, with man or nature as the subject, figurative or just balancing on the edge of abstraction.
